MINORITY SUPPLIER COUNCIL HONORS BUSINESSES

Annual Winners of the TSMSDC Agave' Awards

The Tri-State Minority Supplier Development Council, formerly the Kentuckiana Minority Business Council, has announced the latest annual winners of the TSMSDC Agavé Awards.

 

The awards recognize corporate supplier diversity programs, minority business enterprises and individuals who have benefited their businesses or the community through minority supplier diversity.

 

Among the winners, according to a news release are the following:

 

• The Agavé Cornerstone Award, given to minority-owned and certified suppliers, went to Nimbus Inc., an advertising agency, in the category for sales less than $1 million. For sales of $1 million to $10 million, the winner was Houston-Johnson, Inc., a Louisville-based provider of integrated logistics, material support services and warehousing. In the $10 million to $50 million class, the winner was OmniSource Integrated Supply, a supplier of temporary workers to Toyota, BMW and Mercedes Benz. For the final class, with sales greater than $50 million, the award went to EnovaPremier, which supplies tire-wheel assemblies to the automotive industry.

 

• Winners of Agavé Keystone Awards, for corporations of the year, included the Louisville-Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District for best supplier diversity in the public/university sector. Also cited, in different categories based on the number of employees, were Messer Construction, E.On U.S., Humana Inc. and Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America Inc.

 

• Individuals recognized for their efforts in supplier diversity were Stephanie Pryor, supplier diversity manager for E.On U.S. and Pamela Dumm, manager of business operations for Jefferson Community and Technical College.

 

• The council also recognized corporate members that had spent more than $1 million with certified minority–owned businesses. They were Brown-Forman Corp., Ford Motor Co., Honda Manufacturing of America, Humana Inc., Jefferson County Public Schools, Kroger, LG&E and KU Energy, the Louisville–Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District, Louisville Metro Human Relations Commission, Louisville Water Co., MacLellan Integrated Services, Messer Construction Co., Norton Healthcare Inc., Raytheon, Toyota, United Parcel Service Inc., the University of Louisville and YUM! Brands Inc.

The council serves more than 80 major corporations and about 300 minority businesses in parts of Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia.
